The Band

Simon (Psy) Hall - as - Justin Hawkins

Simon or Psy to his mates, has always wanted to wear leotards and catsuits on stage although his parents can't understand it. "He's always been a bit of a quiet boy" his Mother said recently. Psy has obviously been saving it all up because now he is a complete raving extrovert. Anyone seeing his leapord skin leotard at the recent Likeness gigs will know just what I mean.

He has an uncanny Likeness to Mr Justin Hawkins and just you wait until you hear him... Psy has a fantastic voice and does a superb job in emulating the high pitched yet raucous tones of Justin H.

So here you have it, Psy IS the best (and most televised!) Justin look-a-likee and sound-a-likeee and ponce-about-a-likeee that you are ever going to see.

In his spare time Psy is training to be a hypnotherapist - Watch the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, the eyes... 3, 2, 1 you're under...

Chris Connelly - as - Dan Hawkins

Chris has been a fine guitarist for many a year, never straying too far from a stage. Chris could not wait to pull on those tight pants and uncannily enough already had an unfeasably large Thin Lizzy t-shirt collection. Chris can widdle, screech and pound out hot rockin' licks like the best of them, and let's face it, he needs to be to get that Dan Hawkins sound.
In a strangely familiar quote Chris was heard to say "I'm in a band with my banjo and my three best mates..."

In his spare time Chris does t-shirts, makes soap and sells nice pieces of costume jewelry.

Bryn Bardsley - as - Frankie Poullain / Ritchie Edwards

Bryn has had a bass guitar in his hands since the tender age of 18. On assuming the likeness to Mr Frankie Poullain he rejoiced in the ability to sport facial hair for the first time ever! Oh the joy of a hairy top lip (his wife quivers) and the immense joy of taking it off afterwards... (we all shudder!)
His bottom end reaches out to all... that gives The Likeness that BIG, BROAD, BOOMBASTIC, THUNDER(bird) RUMBLE that drives that Darkness sound.

In his spare time Bryn tweeks this website, practices his skills as a fully qualified masseur, and feeds the ravenous appetite of Kym the Cur, The Likeness's answer to Black Shuck. That dog don't give a f*ck

Bryn is now endorsed by Amps and Cabs

Jamie Muncaster - as - Ed Graham

Jamie - Oh what can be said about Jamie... Jamie first played with Bryn and Psy when he was just 15 years old in "Eric's Dog" one of our early pub rock incarnations.
In the intervening years he went away and honed his skills making him the most ludicrously BEST tub thumper in the North West. He's been there and done it, played with it, smoked it, mastered it with flair, menace and a slight hangover afterwards.

In his spare time Jamie teaches percussion, lays down lucious latino lines, plays with hot bananas and works in theatrical productions wherever and whenever. He also wears Starsky and Hutch T-shirts and owns a Capri !

The Biography

Hailing from the leafy lanes of Cheshire, four good friends with a passion for hammering out fine and classic rock complete with the poses, pouts, bare chests and a irreverent sense of the ridiculous, were getting up close and personal with a fantastic new tune by a bunch of upstarts called "The Darkness". 3 minutes 36 seconds of "I believe in thing called love" later, there were four massive grins and a monstrous sense of nirvana (“a beatitude that transcends the cycle of reincarnation”).

That evening, back in November 2003, in an adrenaline fuelled rush some fool piped up "let's do the rest of the album", so they did...

Then in a typical game of beer fuelled one-up-manship, some other fool piped up, "let's do the whole ‘stadium’ thing in a pub ", so they did...

2 months later, armed with the best tribute band name EVER, "The Likeness", the fab 4 strutted forth with a new look and a cart load of new guitars. As Rush once sang "All the world is indeed a stage" and in this particular extravaganza, Chris Connelly plays the part of Dan Hawkins, Bryn Bardsley plays the part of Frankie Poullain (and Ritchie Edwards!) Jamie Muncaster plays the part of Ed Graham and Simon Hall on soaring vocals, solid rock guitar poses and a PhD in OTT showmanship plays the part of Justin Hawkins.

Suddenly "The Likeness" found themselves in a feeding frenzy, selling out the tribute houses up and down the country. The publics hunger for shamelessly flamboyant good time rock was insatiable, "The Darkness" provide the meat and 2 veg and "The Likeness" are happy to serve it steaming hot right to your door.

In the 18 short months since then, "The Likeness" have toured the four corners of the UK and Ireland, had excessive local radio air time and national TV appearances on CD:UK, MTV and winning through the televised heats to perform "I believe in a thing called love" in front of millions on the Grand Final of "Stars in Their Eyes" 2005. They have met the Darkness themselves and received enthusaistic support. When talking with The Darkness live on national TV, Frankie Poullain paraphrased Oscar Wilde and said "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... SO THANK YOU !". Justin being happy to scrawl "The Likeness Rock" on their guitars.

Throughout 2004 a multitude of Darkness tribute bands came and went, ALL recognising the breath of fresh air "The Darkness" bring to the worlds rock scene. However, it requires staying power, tenacity and unswerving belief to continue to pour in the blood, sweat, time and enthusiasm needed to pay a credible audio and visual tribute to "The Darkness". "The Likeness" have that belief in abundance…

"The Darkness" have deservedly hit the heights, giving grand spectacular shows in grand spectacular stadiums. "The Likeness" continue to give grand spectacular shows in the stadia that are YOUR pubs, clubs and tribute houses week in week out.

ROCK is about making a room full of people sweat, jump, gasp, shout and sing their bloody heads off.

In tribute to masters of the art, "The Darkness"…"The Likeness" love to ROCK.
